The city of Monterey has a history older than the United States. When California did become a state Monterey was the first capital. The city had California's first theater, public building, public library, publicly funded school, printing press, and newspaper. Monterey stretches from the beach and Cannery Row up through Hwy 68, the Monterey-Salinas corridor.
There is a huge variety of homes in Monterey ranging from beach bungalows to craftsman style homes in the sunbelt, to grand estates in the prestigious gated communities of Monterra,Pasadera and Bay Ridge. Currently with a price per sqft slightly lower than it’s more famous and exclusive counterparts residents can afford a slightly larger home. There is something for everyone in this amazing city. Attractions such as the Monterey Bay Aquarium and the Laguna-Seca raceway are top draws for the city. The range in topography allows for almost every outdoor activity available on the peninsula.
